The Stage III Mountain program is open to anyone who would like to be involved in helping and hiking in Victoria's Mountains. There are many easy fun ways to be involved. It is a continuation of Stage II and has a core of young people, you don't have to be young and you don't ever had to have visited Wollangarra before to be a part of it. Families, couples, University students, young and older people are all welcome to jump on one of our expeditions and give back to, as well as enjoy our High Country. This year trips will be Supported by Wilderness First Aid qualified leaders from Wollangarra, exciting Fundraisers and Community events will be held in Melbourne and further afield and exciting projects will be launched at Wollangarra and in the Mountains. You can bring your existing skill knowledge, learn new skills and meet new people on this exciting new program.

What kind of projects and events do you do?
A Stage III current projects and trips including hikes in the high country, restoring an old stone cattlemens hut, using pioneer skills to build a post and rail fence, track work with sister organisation Mittagundi, Trivia nights and other fundraisers, local walks, revegetation, building a Pizza oven and a Stage three building at Wollangarra. Projects are diverse both at Wollangarra and in the mountains and include fundraisers and community events in Melbourne.
How long are the programs?
There are day and night events as well as weekend projects and week long programs.
What do you need to bring?
You own personal camping/hiking gear. Wollangarra can provide anything you might not have, from boots to hiking packs and raincoats. Depending on the trip you may need to contribute some food and some money towards petrol, should you need to use 4WD vehicles. The trip leader will let you know specific details closer to the date of the trip.
Do we need any previous experience?
Not at all. The work we do is easily learnt on the job and the walks are usually average in difficulty. However, a moderate degree of physical fitness is needed and you will living simply, sleeping in tents and often cooking on campfires or portable stoves.
Is it safe?
There will always be a staff member with Wilderness First Aid qualifications and outdoors experience along on stage III trips to support the group and manage any saftey issue on the trip . The group will also have an extensive group first aid kit and trunked radio phone for any emergencies.

The Stage III Committee plays an essential governing role of Stage III. The Committee meets regularly and members hold different roles and areas of responsibility to support the organisation and journey of Stage III. The committee is open to an keen young person of Stage three and have access to training opportunities through out their time with the committee.
